About the Role:
As a CBRE Data Center Technician, you will perform preventative
maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Center
operation.
This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job
function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services
in critical client environments.
Execute decommissioning activities following Data Center Operations
standards. Including the coordination/removal of power, hardware,
cabling, media sanitation, and Inventory tool updates.
What You'll Do:
- Plan Data Center hardware installation by completely
understanding the environmental specifications of the incoming
device and making sure that the install location can support the
new equipment at maximum functionality.
- Plan hardware decommissions to reclaim Data Center white space,
Data Center power consumption, and Data Center cooling
consumption.
- Ability to use Data Center applications including ServiceNow
and Digital Twin (Insight).
- Assist the data center facilities services team in optimizing
the full use of data center facilities (floor space, power,
cooling) and Equipment through proper planning, support, and
administration of dedicated raised floor
- Proactive identification, management, and resolution of data
center Equipment and facilities floor and cabinet space, power, and
cooling issues
- Identify areas to optimize the data center at the rack level to
drive raised floor efficiencies.
- Diagrams are kept current for the raised floor to ensure
alignment with site strategies and direction
- Coordinate Service Requests (SR) for installation and services
performed by the cabling vendor.
- Overall responsibility for the equipment's environmental
requirements.
- Coordinating and validating vendor work, including ensuring the
RFC/SR for cabling, electrical, and cabinet installation are filled
out and completed
- Receiving, reviewing, verifying, and scheduling service
requests
- Communicating progress to the Requester
- Planning for facility requirements
- Power, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)
requirements
- Facilities raised floor space, and equipment layout
requirements
- Assisting the end client with facilities requests
- Assisting an assigned Project Manager with a refresh of
equipment installation/de-installation
- Consolidating and finalizing the facility requirements and
plans required for IT equipment
- Preparing a Service Request or Statement of Work (SOW) for
facility infrastructure installations
- Defining with Data Center Operations when work should be
carried out
- Supervising with Data Center Operations the execution of the
work plan
- Maintaining raised floor layout and ensuring Site Managers have
access
- Updating the asset tool to be fed into the monthly Data Center
Space utilization report
- Providing a monthly Data Center Raised Floor Space utilization
report
- Write routine reports and correspondence related to the
assignments for hardware planning.
- Knowledge of the Data Center environment, and the working
restrictions of these environments.
- Learn new technologies and expand and share this
knowledge.
- Follow basic work routines and standards in application of
work.
What You'll Need:
- Training in a Technical discipline having served an
apprenticeship or equivalent with 1-2 years of job-related
experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and
education will be considered. Ability to work shifts that may
include weekends and holidays
- Must be able to Meet the physical requirements of this
role.
- To effectively present information to an internal department,
client, management and/or colleagues.
- Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the
application of work.
- Communication skills to exchange straightforward
information.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples
include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
- Basic math skills. Ability to calculate simple figures such as
percentages, discounts, and markups.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

determine compensation, including a candidate's education,
training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Data Center
Technician position is $65,000 annually [or $31.25 per hour] and
the maximum salary for the Data Center Technician position is
$85,000 annually [or $40.87 per hour]. The compensation that is
offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's
skills, qualifications, and experience.
